A returning face for 2013, Dan Hunt has made the step up to Sports Director after impressing as a Race Coach during the team’s first season on the road.
In the two intervening campaigns, Hunt took charge of Great Britain’s men’s team pursuit squad leading into the 2012 Olympic Games and guided them to the World Championship title in Melbourne before seeing them romp to the gold medal in a world record time.
Now back on the road, Hunt’s vast coaching and conditioning experience will add another new dimension to the performance team.
“I’m looking forward to learning the races and re-learning the role of a DS,” he said. “I need to expose myself to as much racing as possible in order to do that and I’ll be working extremely hard to ensure I can be the best I can be.
“I’ve had a great two years working on the track, and after the success we achieved at the Olympics, there was no better time to bow out and start a new challenge.
“I’m really excited to be back with Team Sky. I have a fantastic relationship with everyone on this team and I’m excited about the project we’re running here.
“I’m looking forward to bringing new things to the table and this team is always happy to embrace that. We have a really nice mix in the performance team here, and between us we’ve got all the bases covered.”
