An integral part of Team Sky since the outset, Shane Sutton will continue in his role of Performance Advisor in 2014.
Dovetailing his work as Head Coach at the world-renowned British Cycling track programme, the Australian will continue to put his wealth of knowledge at the disposal of the team working alongside Sir Dave Brailsford and the performance staff.
Having worked closely with Brailsford for the last 11 years, Sutton has been involved since the inception of the team and was one of the first people to champion the idea of a new British squad competing at the highest level of road cycling.
Sutton has also formed a close bond with the riders, significantly playing a key role in the career of Bradley Wiggins on the road to his Tour de France success in 2012.
Despite stepping back from a day-to-day role within the team in 2013, Sutton's knowledge and experience will still be influential to Team Sky as they look to reclaim their status as number one-ranked WorldTour team.
“I’m working in a support role alongside Dave as an advisor and a troubleshooter," said Sutton. "We’ve worked together for a long time and we’ve got a good working relationship.
“If there is an issue that the team has identified or an area that needs exploring then Dave will be able to bring me in and we can take a look at it.
“We’ve got a very good team and a young dynamic group of performance coaches. I’m being led by Dave and whatever he wants and whatever I can do to help the performance team then I’ll deliver that for Team Sky.”
