Dave Brailsford has provided a blog for every stage of the Tour de France and we caught up with him on the Champs-Élysées soon after the final stage in Paris:

1840CET, Sunday 25 July

It's been pretty amazing today. I've been so immersed in the race over the last three weeks that to turn the corner and all of a sudden we're on the Champs-Élysées was something else.

The number of people who were here to support us, all the Union Jacks and all the Team Sky tops was mind-boggling. There was the realisation that 'wow, we've created a British team and here it is at the most iconic stage in cycling'.

It was quite a moment in my life to be honest - it will only happen once and it was very special.

I can't thank the fans enough for all their support - they've been incredible and so warm towards us. That will be my abiding memory of the Tour and we are all very, very grateful.

As far as the stage itself was concerned, they were going to lead it out but it didn't quite work out the way we wanted. But Edvald gave it his all again and we live to fight another day.

I think this has been a Tour of 100% commitment from us but also near misses and 'what ifs'. But sometimes you learn more out of adversity than you do when everything works perfectly.

The priority now is thinking about what we can learn from this and come back and start all over again.
