This individual time trial represents the last realistic chance for the main contenders to gain time on their rivals, and if the General Classification is a close-run thing, it's going to real nail-biter here.

The route itself has got to be one of the least technical of the year as it's dead flat, with no tight corners whatsoever for the riders to encounter. The only potentially decisive factors today will be the distance the weary riders have to travel, and the scorching temperatures they are likely to encounter.
