Michal Kwiatkowski rode hard to claim third place on a tough uphill finish on day two at the Volta ao Algarve.

'Kwiato' was positioned well by his Team Sky team-mates on the lower slopes of the Alto da Foia and was able to ride across to a small lead faction as the climb ramped up.
Dan Martin (Quick-Step Floors) and Primoz Roglic (LottoNL-Jumbo) pushed onwards, each attacking the other to contest the summit finish, with Kwiatkowski hanging tough to cross the line third, 20 seconds back.
Martin was happy to lead the uphill sprint from the front to take the victory, and the race lead, heading into Friday's time trial.
Tao Geoghegan Hart was the next Team Sky rider home, 2:17 back, as the race blew apart on the on first-category ascent.
Stage two results:
1. Dan Martin (Quick-Step Floors)
2. Primoz Roglic (LottoNL-Jumbo)
3. Michal Kwiatkowski (Team Sky)
4. Amaro Manuel Antunes (W52-FC Porto)
5. Rinaldo Nocentini (Sporting Clube de Portugal)
