Race Melbourne Criterium, 74.2km

The Albert Park Formula 1 circuit was the backdrop for a fast and furious criterium in Melbourne. With temperatures registering above 40 degrees, the new format of points-based sprints made for an energy sapping 14 laps of action.

Team Sky were active during the race, looking to put riders up the road where possible. Owain Doull and Luke Rowe spent time at the head of the race, yet it was Christian Knees and Pavel Sivakov who scored points for the team on the day.

With Knees coming home third in the third intermediate sprint and Sivakov taking fourth in the final sprint, the team amassed enough points for eighth place.
